Areas of Opportunity

The thrust of the leadership training within the Jaycees is achieved through running projects. The member can take on many roles within the projects.

During the 90 plus years since the beginning of the Jaycee movement, the organization has gone through many changes, both in programs and in names. The Jaycees have become the greatest young people's leadership training organization in the world, and during this period, have developed a "concept" of what the Jaycees should be for its members. Since True Leaders posse skills in many different areas, it is only logical to learn skills in those different areas of opportunity. All projects and programs run by a Jaycee chapter fall within one of four major programming:

Membership Development

Embodying the line of the Jaycee Creed which states: That earth's great treasure lies in human personality;  Activities that allow current Jaycees to get together and to welcome new potential members.

Community Area of Opportunity

Embodying the line of the Jaycee Creed which states "Service to humanity is the best work of life," this area develops the sensitivity of individual members to societal problems and community dynamics by providing experience in community problem solving. Programming in this area would encompass any project or program that either educates community members or improves the quality of life in a community.

Management/Business Developement

Embodying the line of the Jaycee Creed which states "Government should be of laws rather than of men," this area develops the managerial skill of the individual member at all levels of the organization. Programming in this area would encompass any program or project that enhances a member's management skills.

Individual Development

Provides avenues for personal development and achievement, leadership skills and civic interest. Our many fund events offer the opportunity to hone organizing, management and communication skills.
