There’s a chill in the air and Santa Claus has come to Annapolis.

Check out these winter and holiday-themed events happening in and around Annapolis:

• Navy Football: The Annapolis tradition includes the pageantry of the march-on by the brigade of midshipman through the streets of Annapolis and onto the field of Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, to the anticipation of the plebes’ ‘push-up’ count for every point the Mids place on the scoreboard. The final home game will be Nov. 15 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, 550 Taylor Avenue, Annapolis, MD. For more information, click here.

• Lights on the Bay: Get in the holiday spirit with a drive along the shore of the Chesapeake Bay through a massive light show. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Lights on the Bay held from Nov. 22 through Jan. 1. Weather permitting, the electric wonderland will be on full display nightly from 5 to 10 p.m. at Sandy Point State Park, 1100 East College Parkway in Annapolis.

• Annapolis Symphony:Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3, “Eroica,” will be performed at 8 p.m. Nov. 14-15 with guest flutist Kimberly Valerio. The symphony conductor is José-Luis Novo. Other pieces will be “Le Tombeau de Couperin” by Ravel; “Poem for Flute and Orchestra” by Griffes; and “Fantasie Pastorale Hongroise, op. 24” by Doppler.

• Meet Santa Claus: Children may sit on Santa’s lap, share their gift list, and pose for a picture at Westfield Mall in Annapolis, outside of Lord & Taylor. The jolly elf will be available through Dec. 24.

• Annapolis Oyster Classic: Under a heated big-top tent dine on fresh oysters on the half-shell and grilled oysters paired with select wines and beer. Listen to music by Dublin. The fun runs from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis. Cost is $60 per person through Nov. 20; $70 at the door if spots are still available.

• Annapolis City Tree Lighting: Kick off the holiday season with the annual lighting of the tree at Annapolis City Dock. Festivities run from 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 30. Watch Santa arrive by horse and carriage and enjoy dancing and carols sponsored by the Annapolis Jaycees.

• Midnight Madness Holiday Shopping: Stores along Maryland Avenue, Main and West Streets in Downtown Annapolis will keep their doors open until midnight on Dec. 4 and 11. Enjoy musical performances, food and refreshments.

• Handel’s “Messiah” Concert: Performance by the US Naval Academy Glee Club, Hood College Choir, the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra and soloists from the Metropolitan Opera Company at 8 p.m. Dec. 6 and 3 p.m. Dec. 7 at the academy’s main chapel.
