SALISBURY, Md.— The Salisbury Jaycees have announced they will hold their 7th annual safe trick or treating event on Friday, Oct. 31, on the Downtown Plaza in Salisbury.

Treat Street was founded in 2008 in response to numerous reports that many local parents were not allowing their children to go trick-or-treating due to increasing crime in the area. Since the events founding it has grown into the largest annual child-friendly Halloween block party, with the U.S. Junior Chamber of Commerce naming it the nations number one community event.

Festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with registration at the corner of West Main and North Division streets. Registration is open to children up to age 11 and they must register the evening of the event to participate. Candy bags for children who do not bring their own will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Candy tables will be open on the Downtown Plaza from 6-8 p.m., with games, storytelling, local mascots, photo opportunities and other activities available from 6-9 p.m. Children must wear a costume and be accompanied by an adult to participate in the festivities. Adults are encouraged to wear non-scary costumes to the event.

In the incidence of rain, activities will be held indoors at the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Business Center, 144 E. Main St.
